Summer of Heroes Tips & Review

Image
Disney Tourist Blog Summer of Heroes Tips & Review Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT also brought with it the Summer of Heroes at Disney California Adventure, and in this post, we’ll offer tips for seeing all of the special entertainment, as well as minimizing waits on the popular new attraction. Disneyland Resort is describing this ‘event’ as a “blockbuster season of heroic encounters, rockin’ dance parties, an intergalactic attraction, and more!” They also encourage guests to “embark on epic adventures when Spider-Man and members from Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers hit Hollywood Land!” When I read that before the Summer of Heroes started, the phrase “over promise, under deliver” came to mind. I mean, I was willing to go in with an open mind, but c’mon. We remember Season of the Force. In any case, we’ll start the substance of this with what most of you probably care about most: strategy for minimizing waits on Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BR

1-Day Epcot Ideal Day Plan

Image
Disney Tourist Blog 1-Day Epcot Ideal Day Plan Our Epcot touring plan details our itinerary for a perfect day in the park, with strategy to minimize time waiting in lines as well as enjoying the ambiance–the whole shebang. Avoiding crowds at Walt Disney World is important, but so is soaking up the atmosphere, so we focus on both. Anyway–this 1-day Epcot itinerary covers the attractions we would do, the restaurants at which we’d dine, and the quiet moments we would stop to enjoy. It’s regularly updated (most recently on June 3, 2017), with new offerings added and strategy tweaked as necessary. This Epcot touring plan is part of our series of itineraries designed to answer the frequently asked question, “what would you do if you only had one day in ____ Disney park?” We think Epcot is like a fine wine (parts of it are more like a boxed wine, but you get the idea…), in that it’s meant to be sipped rather than chugged. Our ideal experience wouldn’t be complete without strolling

Satu’li Canteen Review

Image
Disney Tourist Blog Satu’li Canteen Review Satu’li Canteen is Pandora – World of Avatar’s counter service restaurant. In this post, we’ll review the lunch and dinner menus, offer thoughts on the ambiance and theme at Satu’li Canteen, and share whether we think it’s worth dining here. For starters, Satu’li Canteen is on the far side of Pandora – World of Avatar, adjacent to Pongu Pongu and the Windtraders gift shop. The restaurant participates in the Disney Dining Plan as a 1-credit counter service location, but does not offer any other form of discounts. Before we dig into theme, let’s discuss one feature that debuted with Satu’li Canteen: Mobile Order, a new option to order and pay for meals on-the-go with the My Disney Experience app. Mobile Order won’t be unique to this location, but since it debuted here, we might as well cover it in this review. We used Mobile Order for our first meal at Satu’li Canteen… The idea of Mobile Order is that you navigate to Satu’li Canteen

Star Wars Land Construction Update

Image
Disney Tourist Blog Star Wars Land Construction Update Star Wars Land construction is coming right along and we have a Summer 2017 progress report with photos of the progress taken on May 30, 2017 at Disneyland. Both the Millennium Falcon and Stormtrooper Battle Escape attractions have significant vertical progress, and the construction site is quite active. While it’s still too early to tell, we think a Christmas 2018 soft opening remains in the realm of possibility. If both Star Wars Lands are going to open in 2019 ( as Disney has announced ), it seems likely Disneyland’s Star Wars Land will have a longer soft opening period beforehand. We don’t know when within 2019 the lands are supposed to open, but Summer 2019 would make sense as the target. With Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ construction now also going vertical, we can better-compare the two projects based upon where Disney’s Hollywood Studios is now, and when Disneyland was at that point… When comparing current photo

Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT Review

Disney Tourist Blog Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT Review This post reviews the new Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! attraction in Disney California, which is the first MARVEL attraction at Disneyland Resort. It offers a bit of strategy for experiencing the ride with as short a wait as possible. Page 1 of the post is spoiler-free, offering thoughts on the exterior of the attraction plus tips for doing it. Page 2 features on-ride photos, my review of the attraction itself, and other stuff. I debated whether I should even review Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! Most of the internet already has its mind made up one way or the other with regard to this attraction, and the amount of vitriol I’ve seen among fans (on both sides of the debate) has been pretty bad. I enjoy debating the merits of Disney theme parks with those who both agree and disagree with me, but only when that discourse is civil. Personal attacks and just general rudeness are
